This is a quick and easy dessert option that requires only nuts, a chopper, and your hands. These balls can be prepared for tea as an alternative to cookies and candy, or you can take with you in a container on a picnic, for a snack on the road, on the plane or in the office.

Most often I make these balls from almonds (it is always at home to make nut milk), but any nuts you like will do. They can be uncooked pistachios, hazelnuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, sesame or pumpkin seeds. You can also add any chopped dried fruit. You have to fuss over chopping them or chopping them in a blender, so for a quick version I just use nuts, seeds, and honey.

A little salt makes almost any nut dessert tastier, so be sure to add a pinch or two of Himalayan or sea salt. To keep the balls in shape, it’s best to store them in the refrigerator.

Chop almonds and hazelnuts in a blender or food processor. Add poppy seeds, salt, lemon juice and honey and mix well with your hands. Roll into balls about 3 cm in diameter and sprinkle each one with poppy seeds. The simple and delicious dessert is ready!
